Here at Tandem Behavioral Health and Wellness, we practice a values based way of life. Values such as love, connection, inclusion, equality, and unity are a few of the things that our company hold dear to our hearts.
Because of these values, we believe it is necessary to be a part of the current conversations about social justice and inequality in our communities. Tandem has zero tolerance for racism, bigotry, or hatred of any sort amongst our employees and our clients. We stand with those who are victims of injustice, inequality, and police brutality. We stand for the Black community as well as others who may be disproportionately affected by tragic events such as we have seen recently; we have to speak out to change our environments in an effort for growth—this is the behavioral way.
We stand together with the victims of marginalization and repression simply because of their race, religion, sexuality, or identity; and with those who seek justice through protests across our country. If we seek positive change in our environments, we must first change how people see and experience events; and thus, much can be learned from activism as learning cannot happen as if through osmosis. Unfortunately, our nation has left it to ourselves to be as passive as we like in learning the truth about our nation's past and its veiled racism and prejudice. We should be able, as Americans, to exist humanely and with equality without having to defend one’s worth. Unfortunately, this is terribly not the case, and when needed it is necessary to stand in unity, as is evident world-wide, such that we may all learn and come to see what we are blind to.
Here at Tandem, we uphold LOVE first and foremost. We are optimistic of our unified potential to affect positive change; while this journey has been long, we believe a more perfect nation is possible sooner than later... but only if we try
